Jungle Disk Workgroup and My Secure Backup version 3.16 upgrade problem
Sunday, September 11, 2011 at 3:23PM
Several people have reported issues that interrupted their installation of the subject software. The developer is aware of this and is taking steps to address it. In the mean time, they have provided the following steps. In most cases, InterConnected Technologies should implement these steps, rather than a client attempting them alone.
For all clients who use either Jungle Disk or My Secure Backup: If down by the clock you fail to see the icon that indicates that either Jungle Disk or My Secure Backup (depending on which offering you are using) is running, please contact us immediately at support@interconnected.com).
- Check to make sure that Jungle Disk is currently uninstalled according to Windows. If it shows up in the list of programs that can be uninstalled, choose to uninstall it now. Manually remove the driver used by Jungle Disk. This can be found under C:\Windows\System32\drivers and is named "cbfs3.sys". Only Jungle Disk uses this driver, so it's safe to delete.
- Clean up the Application Data folder used by Jungle Disk. Go to C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\MySecureBackup\ and remove everything but "jungledisk-settings.xml". (This file contains the settings from your previous installation - if you don't want to retain those settings, you can remove this file as well.)
- Reboot your computer. This is needed in order to completely un-load that driver you deleted earlier.
- Once your computer has been rebooted, make sure to disable your antivirus temporarily. We have found that most often, when an installation problem occurs, it is because antivirus is blocking the installation. If you're not sure how to temporarily disable your antivirus, please let us know what you're using and we can help you find out.
- Make sure to download a fresh copy of the installer (instead of trying to reinstall from an installer you downloaded before). It's available here: https://www.jungledisk.com/downloads/personal/desktop/windows/Default.aspx
- While the antivirus is still disabled, run the installer. After installing, you may be asked to reboot again. If you are asked to reboot, please do so right away (this will prevent Windows or antivirus from rolling back the installation).
